Hathaway Wows the Academy Awards Show With 7 Special Occasion Dresses and 1 Tuxedo

special occasion dresses OscarsThe wholesale special occasion dress industry got a big lift thanks to Anne Hathaway.  Hathaway wore 7 different special occasion gowns at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards show.  That’s right – she wore seven unique special occasion dresses!  Hathaway’s special occasion dresses ran the gamut from red carpet gowns to afterparty attire.

Hathaway not only wore 7 dresses, but she also wore a tuxedo!  Rachel Zoe, Hathaway’s stylist, should’ve paid Blake and Company’s wholesale special occasion dress showroom in New York City a visit.

Hathaway began the Academy Awards in a scarlet special occasion dress and quickly changed into an embroidered ivory special occasion gown.

Later, Anne appeared in an off-the-shoulder cobalt dress, a gunmetal lace and crystal long-sleeved gown and a burgundy beaded gown.  Hathaway looked brilliant in a disco-style fringed gown and a gorgeous ballgown.  Over here at Blake and Company we have a feeling that fringes are definitely in this year!

What Special Occasion Dress Will Be on the Auction Block in London?

Special Occasion DressPlenty of special occasion dresses will be on display at Kate Middleton’s wedding to Prince William – but there will only be one mother of the bride dress.  There is another dress that is making news and it’s not what you may expect.

It’s not a mother of the bride dress or a special occasion dress.  Instead, what is making a buzz is the sheer slip of a dress that Kate Middleton was wearing the night that she first caught Prince William’s eye.  Middleton wore this ‘dress’ that was designed by a design student Charlotte Todd to appear in a fashion show at Saint Andrew’s University.

Middleton wore this ‘dress’ and caught Prince William’s eye.  He immediately began the pursuit of Middleton.

The garment had been stuffed in a closet for years and is now on the auction block.  It will go up for bid in London on March 17th. 

When the couple announced their engagement in November 2010, Todd was quoted as saying she couldn’t imagine parting with the valuable royal artifact, but she’s had a change of heart.

The dress goes up for bid at La Galleria in London’s Pall Mall on March 17, where its estimated to fetch as much as $16,000.

Middleton wore a black special occasion dress to a friend’s wedding in January and was criticized by the UK press for being too thin and for wearing an ‘unroyal’ black special occasion dress.

Mother of the Bride Dress More Anticipated than Kate Middleton’s Wedding Dress

While all of England and possibly the whole world wait for one of the most anticipated celebrity weddings of the year – new details have been released.  Kate Middleton has not announced who will design her bridal dress or the mother of the bride dress, but Palace officials have announced that Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams will preside over the April 29th, 2011 11:00am wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

While special occasion dresses for the bridal party have not been selected as of yet – it is known that the royal couple will travel from the wedding at Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace by carriage.  The festive wedding procession will take place as the carriage passes by several of London’s major landmarks.

The carriage route will go through Parliament Square, Whitehall, Horse Guards Parade and the Mall.  The route is likely to be packed with revelers and well-wishers hoping to catch a glimpse of the newlyweds.  Upon arrival at Buckingham Palace, the couple is expected to make a brief appearance on the balcony.

Once the couple greets the crowd from the balcony, next on the agenda is a star studded royal wedding reception at Buckingham Palace hosted by Queen Elizabeth II, William’s grandmother.

The guest list will be an assortment of royals, celebrities, family and friends all dressed to impress in the latest special occasion dresses of the season.  One can only imagine how many honeysuckle special occasion dresses will be in attendance.
