Mother of the Brides Celebrate in Style in 2010

As we look forward to 2011 and all of the celebrity weddings, mother of bride dresses and special occasion dresses, we also look back at 2010. Of all the Mother of the Bride dresses in 2010, Hillary Clinton wore the most famous of all mother of the bride dresses of the year. But, there were plenty other mother of the bride dresses out there in 2010.

Here are the top 10 celebrity weddings of 2010:

1. While Democrats and Republicans don’t always see eye to eye, everyone agrees that Hillary Clinton’s mother of the bride dress stole the show this year. The Mother of the Bride, Clinton wore a gorgeous Italian gown with floral detailing by Oscar de la Renta. The Mother of the Bride dress design was modern and unique in its shoulder coverage. Hillary Clinton showed that a Mother of the Bride can be bold as she donned a bright raspberry colored mother of the bride dress.

2. Supermodel Coco Rocha’s wedding to interior designer James Conran must have brought out a plethora of special occasion dresses. The guest list no doubt included a long list of beauties from Rocha’s modeling agency. Her mother, Juanita, is a flight attendant and must have looked gorgeous in her mother of the bride dress.

3. Hilary Duff’s wedding to pro hockey player Mike Comrie was a huge event. Her mom, Susan Colleen surely looked wonderful in her mother of the bride dress. The event was reported packed with plenty of celebrities in extravagant special occasion dresses.

4. American Idol star and country singer Carrie Underwood also married a pro hockey player – Mike Fisher. Carole Underwood, an elementary school teacher, most likely chose a traditional mother of the bride dress.

5. Siren Megan Fox’s wedding to 90210 star Brian Austin Green was super-low key. The only witness at their beach wedding ceremony was Green’s 8 year old son from a previous marriage. No word on whether or not the mother of the bride even made it to the wedding ceremony or not. In fact, there were more security guards than guests at the reception so special occasion dresses were probably at a minimum.

6. Nicole Richie’s wedding to Joel Madden was an event complete with a live elephant. One can only imagine what the mother of the bride dress looked like and how many amazing special occasion dresses were present.

10. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden’s bridal ensemble included a veil worn by her mother on her wedding day. Special Occasion Dresses: Petite, Woman’s and Plus Sizes Explained

In a previous Blake and Company special occasion dress blog entry, the difference between junior size special occasion dresses and missy (misses) size special occasion dresses was explained. The focus of this special occasion blog entry is the petite special occasion dress size, petite plus, explain the meaning of “woman’s size” and plus size special occasion dress size.

Remember that when it comes to special occasion dresses – fit is everything. It is important to select a special occasion dress size that is right for you, based first on the body shape that the clothes are designed to fit.

Petite Special Occasion Dresses
Petite special occasion dresses are cut for shorter body. Women between 5ft to 5ft 4in are good candidates for the petite special occasion dress size. To clarify, petite doesn’t mean thin. The petite size special occasion dress only refers to height. Petite size special occasion dresses can be junior cut in sizes from 1P to 13P or in misses sizes from 2P to 14P. Special occasion dresses and mother of the bride dresses can also come in Petite plus, which is 16P to 26P. Special occasion dresses and mother of the bride dresses on Christmas? Christmas Day isn’t really a popular wedding day – but rumors were circulating that Jessica Simpson was going to marry fiancée, Eric Johnson on Christmas Day.

Whether or not the rumors are true, it will be interesting to see what the bride decides to wear. The bride wore a Vera Wang dress for her first wedding to Nick Lachey but says she wants to keep it simple this time around.

When it comes to special occasion dress designs, Simpson may select a vintage lace gown, or she may go with something to show off her hourglass shape. Which Oscar Award Winning Actress is Getting Ready for Role as Real Life Mother of the Bride?

Calling all mother of the bride dress designers! Calling all special occasion dress designers! Susan Sarandon is getting ready to play one of the biggest roles of her life – as the mother of the bride at her daughter, Eva Amurri’s wedding.

This wedding is sure to be a star studded event as the finest special occasion dresses will be on display. Sarandon is no stranger to gala events, but I’m sure that she won’t be digging in her closet to find a special occasion dress for this event. As a former Hollywood starlet, it’s possible that once Sarandon heard about her daughter’s engagement she immediately began the hunt for the mother of the bride dress.

It will be very interesting to see what style mother of the bride dress the Oscar winning Sarandon will go for. Maybe it will be honeysuckle – the color of the year for special occasion dresses in 2011.

Sarandon’s daughter, actress Eva Amurri, 25 got engaged to former Major League Soccer player Kyle Martino, 29. Amurri’s father is Italian director Franco Amurri.

The up-and-coming actress, Eva Amurri, appeared in The Banger Sisters with her Oscar award winning mom and she has several movies in production.
