Black Mother of the Bride Dresses Okay to Wear Once Every 7 Years… Can You Guess Which Day?

Mother of the Bride DressWeddings this fall are showcasing the latest fashions of the season.  Mothers of the brides dresses are looking better than ever.  But yesterday, on a prime Fall 2010 Sunday – there was something a little different in the air.  Mothers of the Bride dresses didn’t necessarily have to follow the conventional mother of the bride dress rules.  Mothers of the brides were allowed to choose black dresses!

Yes, that’s right – black mothers of the bride dresses!  Is that possible?  Why on earth would a mother of the bride wear black?  That’s because yesterday – was October 31st, Halloween!  It happens once every seven years that Halloween falls on a Sunday.  While some brides and grooms pay a simple homage to the date with pumpkin centerpieces or guests throwing candy corn instead of rice – other couples go all out in the Halloween wedding spirit!

Many couples chose unique venues, others chose unique clothing – and some chose both!  Some couples chose full out costume party weddings!  Wedding designs inspired by Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride and Edward Scissorhands were on display at some Halloween weddings!

Catwoman and Batman are also popular wedding costume choices.  Viking-themed weddings were plentiful on Halloween as well.  Mothers of the bride had their accessories such as feathered capes and red corsets.
